When I saw this dress, I just thought she looked so elegant, and my goal became to find something similar.<br></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.</strong></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I had seen some inspo pics of dresses I thought I would like to try on, but like most people, I had never worn a dress like this before—so I had no idea what would look good or not! Being able to look at all the dresses first and then book an appointment afterward, knowing what styles I wanted to try, made the whole process so much less stressful. I 100% recommend that all brides go to a <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/astra-events/\" target=\"_blank\">Sip and See</a> first, if possible.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">From there, I tried on my top pick—the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-coventry.html\" target=\"_blank\">Coventry</a> dress from <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-custom/\" target=\"_blank\">Forget Me Knot</a>—and fell in love instantly. The whole dress appointment was so easy, and <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/lisa-durr.html\" target=\"_blank\">Lisa</a> and the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wellington team</a> were amazing to deal with. Since then, we’ve done a bit of traveling, bought our first home, and started talking about marriage. So, in 2022, while on our trip to America in Washington, D.C., visiting family, we went for a lovely day out. It started with a trip to a bakery for some picnic supplies, and then we set up right between the Washington Monument and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. I had the best hair and makeup team, and it felt like having your friends with you on your wedding morning, which is exactly what you need.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The weather was just perfect – a little cloudy and not too hot. I’m not sure who cried more, myself or Sam, during the ceremony. Miranda from MarryAllThePeople was just the best. She is so hilarious and easy going, and she made us feel so at ease.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Paula and the team at Rose and Smith have it down to a tee, and our day ran so smoothly. One thing that is always mentioned by our guests is the food. Dale Keith, the chef at Rose and Smith, is just incredible. They cook a lot of the food outside on outdoor fire pits, which adds another element to the venue as guests get to interact with the chefs. This was a big standout for Sam when we were looking for a venue and is one of the many reasons why we went with Rose and Smith.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Another standout was at 10:30 p.m. after dinner and dancing, when we had the option of having cheeseburgers, which Dale is famous for. I’m a big fan of Boho, '70s style, and Stevie Nicks. Off to Pinterest I went – and I got very overwhelmed. So, I dialed it back and simply scrolled through the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/hamilton.html\" target=\"_blank\">Astra Bridal</a> site. I can’t remember how far through I got, but once I saw <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-zoe.html\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe</a> <span class=\"redactor-invisible-space\">by <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-custom/\" target=\"_blank\">Forget Me Knot</a>, I just knew that was my dress. At that stage, we were still about 18 months out from our date, so I just sat on it for a while. But I would look at it every other day. I just knew!</span></span><span class=\"redactor-invisible-space\"><span class=\"redactor-invisible-space\"></span></span><span></span></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\" rel=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.</strong></p><p>I’m big on being comfortable as well and made that very clear to <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/khym.html\" target=\"_blank\">Khym</a>. I knew I’d be moving around a lot—eating, dancing, chatting with all our loved ones—so the dress had to be flowy and move with me. I picked four other dresses along with <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-zoe.html\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe</a> and tried them on. But once I got to the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-zoe.html\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe</a>, even though it didn’t fit yet, I could already envision what it would be like once it was made for me. I had mentioned a glitter layer and a blush layer I liked on a couple of the other dresses, to which <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/khym.html\">Khym</a> said, “We can add those.” Say less. I needed those on the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/forget-me-knot-zoe.html\" target=\"_blank\">Zoe</a> to complete my vision.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"redactor-invisible-space\">When the dress arrived in NZ and I had my final fitting before picking it up, I was blown away! It was exactly what I had imagined. It was sparkly, flattering, the sleeves were to die for, and it moved wonderfully. I felt fabulous in it. Our getting along well carried on to meeting each other’s families, where we instantly connected with one another’s families.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Five years down the track, Chris proposed on my 30th birthday – because, and I quote, “I wanted to do it early so you could tell your friends,” since I was going away for a girl’s weekend. So sweet. Getting ready was so much fun, and it was a blessing to have my best friend and mum there with me. Then, about an hour before start time, my grandmothers, dad, and extended family arrived for photos—cue the crying, which basically didn’t stop until I said \"I do!\" After the ceremony, the rest of the evening flew by. The cocktail hour was so fun, and it was nice to relax a little with some bubbles and snacks before dinner was served. We then moved on to the speeches, which had numerous people laughing out loud or crying from the sweet words shared. Then it was onto the dancing and party element of the day, which was enjoyed by so many. As a whole, it really was the best day of my life. Hair and makeup arrived at 8:30 AM, aiming to have us finished by 12:30 PM so we could relax with a glass of champagne before getting picked up.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Once we were ready, our amazing photographer, Geoff, arrived to take photos at the house before heading to the venue to capture the boys getting ready. When we arrived at Markovina, I was snuck around the back of the venue into the bridal room, where we hung out for about 30 minutes before I walked down the aisle. My brother met me there to walk me down the aisle, which was incredibly special. We got married under the Chestnut Tree, and the weather was absolutely perfect—a stunning blue sky. We couldn’t have been luckier. After the ceremony, we spent time celebrating with family and friends before being whisked away for photos.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">Later, we made our entrance into the reception, where our bridal party hosted a hilarious game that had everyone laughing—it was so much fun! (I’ve attached some photos of us playing: sitting back-to-back in chairs, holding his and her shoes.) We cut the cake, had our first dance, and then danced the night away with our loved ones. After almost 13 years together, I finally got to marry my best friend. When I looked at this dress, I instantly knew it was absolutely everything I could ask for in a dress. It had simple fabric but still something special about it. The fabric pleating is everything, and the way the dress fell was just stunning. It was lightweight enough for a summer wedding and had a large slit in the front to let some air in... which I felt was very important as an always-hot girlie.<br>\nI was told it’s not a very popular dress, but I loved it so much and am so grateful for my literal dream dress!<br></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.</strong></p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I intended to have my dress made, but the timing just wasn’t right, and suddenly, barely a month out from the wedding, I had to find a dress. My bestie booked an appointment for me at the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wellington Astra Bridal</a> store, and off I went to hopefully find 'the one.'</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I had seen the Cezanne dress previously, as my bestie had tried on some dresses for her wedding at <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html\" target=\"_blank\">Astra</a> a few months prior. I had also been hunting for dress inspiration, hoping a dressmaker could create something similar. When the panic hit of needing to find a dress, I went straight onto the <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html\" target=\"_blank\">Astra Bridal</a> website and hunted. I spent hours on the site, looking at every detail so I could show the team at <a href=\"https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html\" target=\"_blank\">Astra</a> what I liked. I picked out the Cezanne and a few others I thought could work.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I knew deep down that finding a dress off-the-rack in under a month was mission-near-impossible. It was hot, we did get burned, but it was worth it. I got ready at Jacob's sister's house. She made us a cake, and we had some bubbles. The bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup, I ordered their dresses from BLAK Bridesmaids, and they picked their own shoes. I gave them their necklaces—something special to keep as a memory from the day.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">I got my makeup and hair done by Kerry, who I found last minute (literally three days before the wedding). I wasn’t going to get it done, but I thought I should since it was being filmed for TV! Becs was there for photography—she was AMAZING.<br>\nJacob got ready at his mum’s house with some of the boys. There was a lot of setting up to do, so the boys were running around doing all of that while the girls chilled out.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The ceremony and reception went well! It was truly lovely. Jacob's niece, Rose, was the flower girl, and I was told she did such a good job! Jacob's cousin Skylar did a speech in Te Reo, which was an absolutely special moment for us. Jacob's dad, Brian, read us a beautiful poem, and my best friend (and maid of honour), Koha Tiffany, read a poem during our hand-binding ritual. We kept it as short as we could, but with a lot of special meaning behind it.</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The reception was short—just a paddock over. We had high tea, which was prepared by the lovely ladies at Cobblestone Museum, who volunteer for koha for events such as these. When I looked at this dress, I instantly knew it was absolutely everything I could ask for in a dress. It had simple fabric but still something special about it. The fabric pleating is everything, and the way the dress fell was just stunning. It was lightweight enough for a summer wedding and had a large slit in the front to let some air in... which I felt was very important as an always-hot girlie.<br> I was told it’s not a very popular dress, but I loved it so much and am so grateful for my literal dream dress!<br></p><p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.</strong></p><p style="text-align: center;">I intended to have my dress made, but the timing just wasn’t right, and suddenly, barely a month out from the wedding, I had to find a dress. My bestie booked an appointment for me at the <a href="https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html" target="_blank">Wellington Astra Bridal</a> store, and off I went to hopefully find 'the one.'</p><p style="text-align: center;">I had seen the Cezanne dress previously, as my bestie had tried on some dresses for her wedding at <a href="https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html" target="_blank">Astra</a> a few months prior. I had also been hunting for dress inspiration, hoping a dressmaker could create something similar. I spent hours on the site, looking at every detail so I could show the team at <a href="https://www.astrabridal.co.nz/wellington.html" target="_blank">Astra</a> what I liked. I picked out the Cezanne and a few others I thought could work.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I knew deep down that finding a dress off-the-rack in under a month was mission-near-impossible. I told them it needed to be off-the-rack, I didn’t have time for adjustments, and I needed to feel good in it. We hunted the store for what could fit me and ended up with a collection. What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?Greek Goddess! When I looked at this dress, I instantly knew it was absolutely everything I could ask for in a dress. It had simple fabric but still something special about it. The fabric pleating is everything, and the way the dress fell was just stunning. It was lightweight enough for a summer wedding and had a large slit in the front to let some air in... which I felt was very important as an always-hot girlie. I was told it’s not a very popular dress, but I loved it so much and am so grateful for my literal dream dress!Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.I intended to have my dress made, but the timing just wasn’t right, and suddenly, barely a month out from the wedding, I had to find a dress. My bestie booked an appointment for me at the Wellington Astra Bridal store, and off I went to hopefully find the one.I had seen the Cezanne dress previously, as my bestie had tried on some dresses for her wedding at Astra a few months prior. I had also been hunting for dress inspiration, hoping a dressmaker could create something similar. When the panic hit of needing to find a dress, I went straight onto the Astra Bridal website and hunted. I spent hours on the site, looking at every detail so I could show the team at Astra what I liked. I picked out the Cezanne and a few others I thought could work.I knew deep down that finding a dress off-the-rack in under a month was mission-near-impossible. But I kept calm and collected, showed up to my appointment, and the girls at Astra knew the vibe immediately. I told them it needed to be off-the-rack, I didn’t have time for adjustments, and I needed to feel good in it. We hunted the store for what could fit me and ended up with a collection. I forgot to show the girls my inspo, but they were great at picking out some fabulous dresses anyway. As we were wrapping up the dress hunt and starting the try-on phase, I saw her: Cezanne.We picked it off the rack. SHE WAS MY SIZE! The girls at Astra helped me set up a payment plan, and I picked up my dress two weeks before the wedding. All I had to do was attach the sleeves I had bought to go with her. Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.My best friend Tiffany and Jacobs best friend Sam met on Tinder and have been dating for the last decade. We met through them around the time they first started dating. We were friends for a long time, both having different life ambitions and commitments. We started spending more time together, and I quickly realised that we could be much more than friends. I made the first move, and the rest is history. We officially started dating on 14/12/2022, got engaged on 14/12/2023, and married on 14/12/2024. Hes my best friend, and I couldnt imagine life without him!We picked out the ring together because he wanted to make sure I liked it. We had a one year vacation booked, but the plans fell through, and we ended up in Rotorua, a place that Jacobs family has roots in and that is special whenua for him. It is part of his whakapapa. He proposed to me before we left for the airport, out by the water and in nature. Our flight ended up being delayed by six hours, so we bought a book each and read while waiting at the airport. What was your favourite part of the day?Everything was just so magical and special. Everybody there meant so much to us, from the guests to the vendors, and we wouldnt have done the day any differently. We both felt incredible, and I felt so beautiful. It was amazing to share our love with everyone. Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.We were graced with beautiful sunshine and some cloud cover in the Wairarapa, which was fantastic for the day and the photos. It was hot, we did get burned, but it was worth it. I got ready at Jacobs sisters house. She made us a cake, and we had some bubbles. The bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup, I ordered their dresses from BLAK Bridesmaids, and they picked their own shoes. I gave them their necklaces—something special to keep as a memory from the day.I got my makeup and hair done by Kerry, who I found last minute (literally three days before the wedding). I wasn’t going to get it done, but I thought I should since it was being filmed for TV! Becs was there for photography—she was AMAZING. Jacob got ready at his mum’s house with some of the boys. There was a lot of setting up to do, so the boys were running around doing all of that while the girls chilled out.The ceremony and reception went well! It was truly lovely. Jacobs niece, Rose, was the flower girl, and I was told she did such a good job! Jacobs cousin Skylar did a speech in Te Reo, which was an absolutely special moment for us. Jacobs dad, Brian, read us a beautiful poem, and my best friend (and maid of honour), Koha Tiffany, read a poem during our hand-binding ritual. We kept it as short as we could, but with a lot of special meaning behind it.The reception was short—just a paddock over. We had high tea, which was prepared by the lovely ladies at Cobblestone Museum, who volunteer for koha for events such as these. We chatted, took photos, and then once all the guests had left, the bridal party and some extras went off to Mount Holdsworth Lodge for the night to continue the party! Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?Relax, and dont force anything. If its too hard, stop and reevaluate what is important to you and your spouse. Give yourself more time than you anticipate needing for rehearsals, meetings with celebrants/photographers, etc., and take time for yourself on your special day. Spend some time with that little girl you once were, dreaming of her wedding day while you are in your dress, all ready to go. Breathe deeply and meaningfully throughout the day.
